Step 1: Install the BlackBerry Bridge App on your BlackBerry smartphone
On your BlackBerry smartphone, open up App World. In the search box at the top, type in “BlackBerry Bridge” and press the “Enter” button on the keyboard.
Press “Apps” and the BlackBerry Bridge app should be at the top of the list. Click on it.
Press “Download” (or “Reinstall” if you’ve installed it before) and you’ll start downloading the app! You may have to restart your BlackBerry smartphone once it’s installed.
Opening up the Blackberry Bridge App, you’ll see a really, really simple screen. First things first, you will have to ensure that Bluetooth is on. If not, press “Turn on Bluetooth” and the app will turn it on for you. Next, make sure it says “On” beside “BlackBerry Bridge”. Then press “Add New Tablet”.
Step 2: Pairing your PlayBook with the BlackBerry smartphone
Let’s switch to your Playbook. Give it a nice swipe downwards from the top bezel, revealing the settings menu. Select “BlackBerry Bridge” in the menu.
Press “Setup”. You might have to name your PlayBook, so call it something unique and cool
Once you’re done naming it, press “Next”. Since we have already installed BlackBerry Bridge on your BlackBerry smartphone, press “Continue”.
You’ll see a funky 2D barcode like the one shown below.
Now, go back to your BlackBerry smartphone. You should see this screen.
Press “Continue” and your BlackBerry smartphone will go into barcode-hunting mode! Aim the camera at the barcode on the Playbook. The BlackBerry smartphone will analyze it and pair your two beloved devices instantly and forever! Press “Ok” on your BlackBerry.
And press “Done” on your PlayBook.
With all that out of the way, you’re now good to go! On your PlayBook, you’ll notice that your BlackBerry smartphone shows up in the BlackBerry Bridge menu with some green arrows! This means your PlayBook and BlackBerry smartphone are connected through BlackBerry Bridge.
You can now access the “Bridge” Applications on your PlayBook, giving you a super secure way to view all your personal Blackberry information on a fancy 7” screen!
